Being an eighth grader I looked forward to anything;basketball, year book, and clubs. But I never thought that I would remember anything from the eighth grade awards.
I sat in a row with a couple of my friends and we talked the whole time, well besides the parts were we or a friend went up to cheer for them, so we didn't really hear about the awards that they were giving out. All I knew was it was called the Albert's award and only one girl and one boy can get it. I knew I wasn't going to get it, I mean what's the odds me to 150 girls the chance is low, so I payed more attention to my friend Jacob. We were making fun of a teacher, who was sitting right by us, when the man called the names.
When you hear your name being called, what's the first reaction? Well whatever your thinking might be the better answer than what I was thinking. My heart's beat went off tempo, my face lava. I felt as if I was a prisoner waking to the electric chair. All eyes where on me. Sadly the clapping didn't make any noise to me. All I hear was the thumping of my heart and heat of my face. It didn't really help when my friend Emma shouted out my name and how I was bloody red.
As I reached for the paper from the man, I had to control, or at least try to, the nervousness in my hands. I rushed right back to my seat so I won't let anyone see my face, I could feel it burning. I remember it as the day I wish I missed school for but I kind of enjoyed getting the watch, but I promise next time I have to do anything with walking in to a crowd count me out.
